Surgeries
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is characterized by elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), leading to the destruction of the optic nerve fibers.
In its early stages, this disease remains asymptomatic and affects only the peripheral visual field, hence the need for early screening from the age of 50.
Screening includes a visual assessment, optic nerve imaging analysis, and a visual field test.
Some risk factors:
- High myopia, hypertension, and/or diabetes
Glaucoma Treatments
Treatment Solutions
Our team of specialists offers various treatment options aimed at slowing or halting the destruction of the optic nerve, in order to prevent total blindness.
- Pharmacological Treatment
This treatment involves applying eye drops to lower intraocular pressure. - Surgery
Glaucoma surgery involves creating a new “outlet” for the aqueous humor (the fluid inside the eye) to improve its drainage and thus permanently lower ocular pressure. This procedure is offered when eye drops or laser treatment are no longer sufficient to control the disease. - Non-Surgical Procedure
SLT laser is a glaucoma treatment that improves the drainage of fluid from the eye to reduce pressure. Performed quickly and painlessly during a consultation, it can supplement or replace eye drops, thereby avoiding their daily use. You can resume your activities immediately after the session.
